Two people were killed, and eight others injured after a car driver allegedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into pedestrians in Navi Mumbai on Monday before abandoning the car and fleeing the spot.

The accident took place in Taloja Sector 10, where the speeding car crashed into around eight to ten people, triggering panic in the area.

Police said the driver lost control of the vehicle, causing it to plough into pedestrians. Two people died in the accident, while eight others sustained injuries.

After the crash, the driver abandoned the car at the spot and escaped before authorities arrived.

Police have launched a search to trace and arrest the accused driver. Further investigation is underway to establish the circumstances that led to the crash.

All the injured were shifted to a private hospital for treatment. Their condition was not immediately known.
