- JioPC turns your old laptops or TVs into fast cloud computers using just an internet connection.

- Subscription plans are highly affordable and start at just Rs 1,000 for a two-month standard package.
Do you have an old laptop that takes forever to start or struggles to open basic apps? Reliance Jio has introduced a service called JioPC that can save you from spending thousands of rupees on a brand-new computer. Jio has expanded its digital services portfolio with this computer-as-a-subscription service, aiming to make high-performance computing much more accessible, especially for students, families, and educational institutions.
What exactly is JioPC?
JioPC essentially lets you run a powerful virtual computer over the internet. Instead of upgrading your old laptop's physical parts, you can access a fast, cloud-based computing environment. You can log into your account using an existing Windows or Mac computer, a compatible monitor, or even a television connected to a Jio Set-Top Box.
All you need is a standard web browser and a stable broadband, 4G, or 5G internet connection. Because all the heavy processing and storage happens on Jio's cloud servers, you do not need to buy expensive new hardware.
Ubuntu OS, AI tools, and top-tier security
To keep the system fast and lightweight, JioPC runs on an Ubuntu-based Linux operating system. It comes ready for work and study, pre-loaded with essential productivity software like LibreOffice. Users can also use the web browser to access popular online applications like Microsoft 365 and design tools like Adobe Express.
Jio claims the service is capable of supporting a wide range of heavy workloads, making it perfect for online classes, coding, design, research, and running generative AI tools that would normally freeze an older computer.
Security is another major focus for the new service. JioPC uses a Zero Trust security model, meaning all your data is stored securely in Jio's cloud storage rather than on your local device. The company uses enterprise-grade infrastructure and disaster recovery, so if your physical laptop screen breaks, your hard drive fails, or your set-top box gets damaged, your files remain completely untouched and safe in the cloud.
JioPC price in India and subscription plans
When it comes to pricing, Jio is using a configurable computing model. This means users can simply select a plan based on the memory and storage they need and pay a subscription fee instead of making a massive upfront investment.
The service is available in two configurations. The JioPC Standard plan comes with 4 CPU cores, 8GB of RAM, and 500GB of storage. This plan is priced at Rs 1,000 for two months, Rs 2,000 for five months, and Rs 4,000 for a 12-month period, which includes 10 months plus two bonus months.
For users who need more power, the JioPC Ultra plan offers 8 CPU cores, 16GB of RAM, and 1TB of storage. The Ultra plan costs Rs 1,200 for two months, Rs 2,500 for five months, and Rs 5,000 for the 10+2 month yearly package.
Additionally, Jio offers a discount to further reduce the effective cost of the service. Eligible JioHome broadband customers can redeem a Rs 100-per-month Jio Home voucher against their internet bill. For just Rs 1,000, JioPC provides a very practical alternative for anyone looking to bypass the Rs 40,000 cost of a new laptop, provided they have a steady internet connection.
