NTA INTRODUCES STUDENT-FRIENDLY CHANGES

Ahead of the June 21 re-exam, the NTA has announced several candidate-focused measures aimed at improving the examination experience.

One of the most significant changes is the extension of the examination duration by 15 minutes. The total exam window has now been increased to 195 minutes, allowing candidates additional time to attempt the paper.

The agency has also increased the space available for rough work inside the question booklet, enabling students to perform calculations and note-making more comfortably during the examination. In addition, the question paper booklet has been redesigned to improve usability and reduce confusion while navigating the paper.

These changes were introduced following feedback from students and recommendations aimed at making the examination process more candidate-friendly.

The examination will continue to consist of 180 compulsory multiple-choice questions from Physics, Chemistry and Biology. The paper carries a maximum of 720 marks, with candidates receiving four marks for every correct answer and losing one mark for every incorrect response.

PROHIBITED ITEMS AT EXAMINATION CENTRES

The NTA has issued strict guidelines regarding items that are not allowed inside examination centres.

Candidates must not carry mobile phones, smartwatches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, electronic pens, wallets, pouches, study material, written notes or any stationery brought from home. Any form of electronic gadget or communication device is strictly prohibited.

Only transparent water bottles will be permitted inside the examination venue. Students are advised to avoid carrying valuables, as examination centres are not expected to provide storage facilities.

Candidates are also advised to follow the dress code and reporting instructions mentioned on their admit cards to avoid last-minute inconvenience.

FREE BUS TRAVEL ANNOUNCED FOR CANDIDATES

To help students reach their examination centres without difficulty, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced free travel for NEET candidates on Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) buses on June 21.

Candidates can avail the facility by showing their NEET admit card while travelling. Similar support measures have also been announced by several states to facilitate hassle-free travel for students appearing in the re-examination.

The initiative aims to minimise transportation-related challenges and ensure that candidates can reach their examination centres on time.

NEET UG TO SHIFT TO CBT MODE FROM 2027

In a major reform aimed at strengthening examination security and transparency, Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan has confirmed that NEET UG will move to a Computer-Based Test (CBT) format from 2027.

The decision follows recommendations made by a high-level expert committee constituted to improve examination systems and enhance accountability.

However, the June 21 re-examination will continue to be conducted in the traditional pen-and-paper OMR format.

With admit cards now available, candidates should download and verify their hall tickets well before the June 21 re-test and carefully follow all exam-day instructions. Enhanced security measures, Centre-led oversight and student-friendly changes introduced by the NTA aim to ensure a fair, transparent and smooth examination process for lakhs of aspirants.
