  • Temple is set to go on pre-order from November 1
  • However, its shipping will start in early 2027
  • The brain monitoring wearable will come in six colourways

With around a week left before you can pre-order Temple, a device meant to sit on the human temple -- the space between the forehead and ear -- Zomato co-founder and now CEO of Temple, Deepinder Goyal, revealed why it can only ship next year. The devices are confirmed to come in six colourways and will cost Rs 85,000, according to an early access invite sent by the company.

In a post on X, Goyal reveals that while Temple is set to open for pre-order on November 1, the device will ship in early 2027. The reason he gave was: “Each Temple is hand-made to order and delivered to you within three months of your purchase.” In other words, the company will build a Temple only after someone places an order online and this could take around three months for the brand to ship it. When one of X users asks a question about whether the move is about quality control or keeping inventory low, Goyal replied, “Quality control, and also making sure we serve each customer well, following the "grow slow" approach with Temple.” So, as it is Goyal's first time exploring the biotech arena, he seems to be taking cautious steps before entering the market fully.

Notably, Temple drew people’s attention for the first time when Goyal wore it during a podcast on Raj Shamani’s YouTube channel. Soon after, popular Indian badminton player PV Sindhu has also been spotted wearing it during live matches. And now, finally the device is gearing up to make its public appearance in six True Gold, Rose Gold, Black Mirror, Real Jade, Deep Blue and Purple Funk colour options.

What is Temple and what does it bring to the table?

Temple is a small, pill-shaped wearable that aims to track signals linked to the brain rather than the usual fitness numbers you get from a smartwatch or fitness bands. Its BrainFlow technology uses optical sensors to monitor changes in cerebral blood flow, along with signals associated with oxygenation and cognitive load. The idea is to help users understand how their bodies respond to stress, exercise and recovery.

Temple also comes with an Entropy score, ranging from 1 to 250, which is designed to indicate physiological strain. Sleep, exercise, stress and even caffeine may affect the score. The device sticks to the skin using single-use adhesive tapes called Grips, which are designed to keep it in place during everyday activities and workouts. According to Goyal, users can wear it while running, swimming or showering, except during scuba diving. And it is, importantly, intended for wellness and research, not medical diagnosis.
