The biggest change could come to the MacBook Pro lineup, which is expected to get its first major redesign in years. Reports suggest Apple is working on a touchscreen MacBook with an OLED display, a thinner body and a new design.

MacBook Pro to get big upgrade

According to reports from 9to5Mac and MacRumors, Apple is preparing a high-end MacBook that could either carry the MacBook Pro name or debut as a new MacBook Ultra. The latter is expected to sit above the existing M5 Pro and M5 Max MacBook Pro models rather than replace them.

The laptop is tipped to use an OLED display, replacing the current mini-LED technology. OLED panels can offer deeper blacks and higher contrast, while also improving HDR performance in some situations.

Touch support would be one of the biggest changes. Apple has traditionally kept touchscreen functionality away from the Mac, despite offering touch displays on the iPhone and iPad. The new MacBook is reportedly designed to work with both touch input and the traditional trackpad or mouse.

Apple is also said to be working on a thinner design and a reinforced hinge to keep the display steady when users interact with it. Another reported change is a Dynamic Island-style cutout replacing the current notch.

There is also uncertainty around the name and timing. Reports suggest the device could arrive between October and December, although a global memory chip shortage could affect Apple's plans.

New Apple TV and HomePad also rumoured

Apple is also reportedly preparing a new Apple TV 4K. The current third-generation model arrived in 2022, making it one of Apple's longest-running products without a hardware update.

The upcoming model is expected to feature a more powerful A19 or A19 Pro chip, along with support for AI-powered Siri features. The current Apple TV 4K starts at $129 in the US at launch, although Apple later increased its price to $199.

The third product could be Apple's long-rumoured smart display, often referred to as the HomePad. The device is expected to combine a speaker with a screen and could run a new operating system borrowing elements from Apple's existing platforms. Reports suggest it could feature Siri, a camera, widgets and Apple apps such as Photos, Notes, Music and Calendar. A StandBy-style display mode is also reportedly planned.
