According to a leak circulating on social media and reported by Macworld, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could feature a 5,235mAh battery in the Nano SIM version and a larger 5,425mAh battery in the eSIM-only model. If accurate, both would represent a noticeable jump over the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which is reported to pack 4,823mAh and 5,088mAh batteries respectively.

In simple terms, Apple could be preparing its biggest battery upgrade in years. A 5,425mAh battery would also put the iPhone 18 Pro Max ahead of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra's reported 5,000mAh battery, although battery capacity alone does not determine how long a phone lasts on a single charge.

That said, there are reasons to remain cautious. The leak appears to have originated from a now-deleted post on X and may have been reposted from a Chinese social media account. The source does not have a well-established track record for Apple leaks, and the information has not been independently verified.

However, the latest claim does line up with earlier reports. Earlier this year, well-known Weibo tipster Digital Chat Station suggested the iPhone 18 Pro Max would receive a larger battery than its predecessor, with capacities expected to cross the 5,100mAh mark. While the new leak pushes that figure even higher, both reports point in the same direction: Apple is likely prioritising battery life for its next flagship.

iPhone 18 Pro: What else is expected?

The larger battery may not be the only reason the iPhone 18 Pro Max could last longer. Apple's next-generation A20 Pro chip, which is expected to be built using TSMC's advanced 2nm process, is widely rumoured to deliver better power efficiency alongside faster performance. Combined with a more power-efficient LTPO+ display, the new chip could help the iPhone 18 Pro Max offer noticeably longer battery life than the current generation.

The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to retain Apple's familiar flat-edged design and triple-camera layout while introducing subtle refinements rather than a complete redesign. Reports suggest Apple could shrink the Dynamic Island by moving some Face ID components under the display, giving users slightly more screen space without dramatically changing the look of the phone.
