Skoda Auto India has officially opened bookings for the Kodiaq RS, marking the arrival of the fastest and most powerful Skoda SUV ever launched in the country. The performance-oriented flagship SUV will be offered in an exclusive batch of just 50 units, underscoring its niche appeal among enthusiasts.

The launch of the Kodiaq RS coincides with two major milestones for the Czech brand, over 50 years of the iconic RS badge and 125 years of Skoda's motorsport heritage. Alongside the booking announcement, the carmaker has also unveiled its new 'Surrender' campaign, encouraging customers to embrace the SUV's performance-focused character.

At the heart of the Kodiaq RS lies a 2.0-litre four-cylinder turbo-petrol engine that produces 265bhp and 400Nm of torque. Compared to the standard Kodiaq sold in India, the RS version develops an additional 60hp and 80Nm. The engine is paired with a seven-speed DSG dual-clutch automatic transmission and Skoda's all-wheel-drive system, enabling the SUV to sprint from 0-100kmph in just 6.3 seconds. It also boasts a top speed of 231kmph, making it the quickest Skoda model to be introduced in the Indian market.

The powertrain is identical to the unit found in the Octavia RS and Volkswagen Golf GTI sold internationally. To match the added performance, Skoda has equipped the Kodiaq RS with upgraded braking hardware, including slotted brake discs and twin-piston front brake calipers. The SUV also gets Dynamic Sound Boost, which enhances the engine note for a more engaging driving experience.

Beyond outright performance, the Kodiaq RS receives a host of chassis and handling upgrades. It features Progressive Steering for improved agility and reduced steering effort at lower speeds. The latest-generation Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC) Plus system offers 15 levels of damping adjustment and works in conjunction with Driving Mode Select. Drivers can choose between Eco, Comfort, Normal, Sport, Individual and Snow modes, while a dedicated Off-Road mode optimises vehicle settings for challenging terrain.

Visually, the Kodiaq RS differentiates itself from the standard SUV with a sportier design package. It receives more aggressive front and rear bumpers, gloss-black exterior accents, blacked-out grille surrounds, ORVMs, roof rails and window trims. Larger 20-inch alloy wheels and signature red brake calipers further enhance its sporty appearance.

Inside, the cabin adopts a distinctly performance-oriented theme with black leather upholstery, contrasting red stitching and RS-specific sports seats featuring integrated headrests and RS badging. Buyers can choose from four exterior colour options — Moon White, Magic Black, Velvet Red and Steel Grey.

While Skoda has not revealed the final ex-showroom price, the company has confirmed that bookings are now open with a token amount of Rs 3 lakh. The Kodiaq RS is expected to be imported as a Completely Built Unit (CBU) and is likely to be priced between Rs 50 lakh and Rs 55 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it above the standard Kodiaq range.

With the Kodiaq RS, Skoda aims to strengthen its performance portfolio in India by offering a unique blend of luxury, practicality and high-performance driving dynamics in the premium SUV segment.
