Bengaluru Police have arrested a 25-year-old man for sharing an AI-generated video showing a bomb blast at Vidhana Soudha, the seat of Karnataka’s legislature.
The video, posted on Instagram, depicted the landmark building being blown up in an explosion and went viral before the account that shared it was deactivated.
The accused has been identified as Hazrat Ali, a migrant worker from Bihar.
The video was shared on Instagram by an account identified as jnx_king_h_g. It showed Vidhana Soudha being blown up in an apparent bomb blast, with the visuals created using an artificial intelligence (AI) filter.
The clip depicted an explosion at the prominent government building, potentially giving viewers the impression that a serious attack had taken place. However, the visuals were AI-generated and did not show a real incident.

Although the video has since been taken down and the Instagram account deactivated, it had already gone viral by then. Its circulation raised concerns over the spread of fabricated visuals depicting alleged attacks on prominent public buildings.
Police have arrested Ali in connection with the video and are set to register an FIR over the incident.
The case highlights the potential risks of AI-generated content being shared on social media without context. Such tools can produce realistic-looking visuals, making it difficult for viewers to immediately distinguish fabricated scenes from genuine footage.
