Tata Motors has officially revealed the exterior design of the upcoming Sierra EV through a new ad, offering the clearest look yet at one of the brand's most anticipated electric SUVs. Set to make its debut on June 30, the Sierra EV will become the seventh model in Tata Motors' expanding electric vehicle portfolio.

While the Sierra EV shares its overall design and silhouette with the upcoming ICE-powered Sierra, it gets several EV-specific styling touches. The front fascia features a cleaner, closed-off treatment with revised detailing and unique colour accents that distinguish it from its combustion-engined sibling. Despite the modern updates, the SUV retains the upright stance, distinctive glasshouse and strong road presence that made the original Sierra an icon.

The latest teaser showcases the SUV tackling desert terrain, highlighting its off-road credentials. More significantly, a close-up of the tailgate reveals a "QWD Dual Motor" badge, confirming that the Sierra EV will feature Tata Motors' all-wheel drive technology. Similar to the system seen on the Harrier EV, the setup is expected to use independent electric motors on the front and rear axles, delivering all-wheel-drive capability.

Under the skin, the Sierra EV is likely to be based on Tata's latest acti.ev+ architecture and could share much of its mechanical package with the recently unveiled Harrier EV. Battery pack options will likely include 65kWh and 75kWh, with the larger unit likely paired with the dual-motor QWD setup. Lower variants are expected to feature a single-motor configuration driving one axle.

Although Tata Motors has not yet revealed official performance figures, the Sierra EV is expected to offer significantly higher power and torque outputs than the company's current electric SUVs. Fast-charging capability and certified range figures are likely to be announced closer to launch.

Inside, the Sierra EV is expected to carry forward the premium cabin layout previewed on the Sierra concept. Top-spec variants could feature a triple-screen dashboard setup comprising a digital instrument cluster, central infotainment touchscreen and a dedicated passenger display. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, ventilated and powered front seats, dual-zone climate control, a JBL audio system with Dolby Atmos, an augmented reality head-up display and a comprehensive suite of ADAS functions.

Positioned between the Curvv EV and Harrier EV in Tata Motors' electric lineup, the Sierra EV will target buyers looking for a spacious, premium electric SUV with a distinctive identity. Expected prices are likely to range between Rs 18 lakh and Rs 24 lakh (ex-showroom), placing it in contention with rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, MG Windsor, Maruti e Vitara and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser EV.

With retro-inspired styling, modern technology and the promise of all-wheel-drive performance, the Sierra EV is shaping up to be one of Tata Motors' most important electric vehicle launches yet.
