by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayToyota Kirloskar Motor has announced that its cumulative hybrid vehicle sales in India have crossed the 3 lakh units milestone.
The automaker said the achievement reflects increasing customer preference for fuel-efficient and lower-emission mobility solutions, while also reinforcing confidence in Toyota’s hybrid technology and brand reliability. The company currently offers a range of hybrid models in the Indian market, including the Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, Toyota Innova HyCross, Toyota Camry Hybrid and Toyota Vellfire.
Toyota stated that the milestone is part of its broader “multi-pathway” approach towards carbon neutrality, where it continues to promote multiple electrified technologies including hybrid electric vehicles (HEVs), plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel-cell electric vehicles (FCEVs), alongside alternative fuel solutions.
According to the company, Toyota has sold over 38 million electrified vehicles globally over the last three decades, contributing to an estimated reduction of more than 197 million tonnes of CO emissions worldwide.
Commenting on the achievement, Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President, Sales-Service-Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the company’s “Mass Electrification” philosophy is focused on offering practical and scalable mobility solutions suited to diverse customer needs.
He added that hybrid technology acts as an important bridge towards cleaner mobility by allowing customers to adopt electrification without compromising on convenience, performance or reliability.
Toyota highlighted that its self-charging hybrid system combines a petrol engine with an electric motor, allowing the vehicle to switch intelligently between power sources to maximise fuel efficiency and reduce emissions. The automaker also emphasised that the battery charges automatically through regenerative braking and engine power, eliminating the need for external charging infrastructure.
To further strengthen customer confidence, Toyota continues to offer an 8-year warranty on hybrid batteries across its hybrid vehicle range in India.
