by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayAprilia India has introduced the new SXR GT range in India, bringing updated styling, larger 14-inch wheels, more features and revised engines to its urban-touring scooter lineup. The range is available in 125cc and 175cc versions, with the latter positioned as the more performance-oriented variant.
Aprilia says the scooter combines its Italian design language with a more commanding stance, added technology and touring-focused equipment.
Aprilia SXR GT: Engine and performance
The SXR GT 175 is powered by Aprilia's 175cc air-cooled engine, which produces 13.27bhp at 7,200rpm and 14.14Nm of torque at 6,000rpm. The SXR GT 125, meanwhile, uses a 125cc engine developing 10.61bhp at 7,400rpm and 10.4Nm at 6,200rpm.
According to Aprilia, both engines have been developed to offer improved acceleration, power and torque while retaining the usability expected from a daily scooter. Both engines are BS6 OBD II Stage B compliant and compatible with E20 fuel.
The SXR GT range rides on 14-inch wheels, which Aprilia claims are a first in the segment. The larger wheels are intended to provide a more planted stance and improve stability and ride comfort, particularly over longer distances.
New Aprilia SXR GT gets updated design
The SXR GT retains Aprilia's distinctive maxi-scooter-inspired design, with large proportions and a prominent front end. It features the brand's signature tripod LED headlamp setup, while the new range also gets updated graphics and six new colour options across the two variants.
The SXR GT 125 is offered in Matte Black, Glossy Azzurro and Glossy White. The SXR GT 175 gets Metallic Blue, Matte Black and Matte Green paint schemes, along with new graphics and footboard detailing inspired by Aprilia's GT range.
SXR GT 175 gets TFT display
The SXR GT 175 gets a 5-inch TFT instrument cluster with Bluetooth connectivity. It supports functions including music and call management, as well as navigation and turn-by-turn directions.
The SXR GT 125, meanwhile, gets a 5-inch LCD instrument cluster. Both versions retain the practical focus of the SXR GT, while Aprilia has positioned the 175cc model as the more technology-heavy offering.
Safety and touring equipment
The SXR GT 175 comes equipped with a front disc brake and ABS, while the 125cc version gets a 220mm front disc brake and a 140mm rear drum brake. The 175cc model also gets a new muffler with integrated heat protection.
Aprilia is also offering touring-oriented accessories for the SXR GT range. These include a manually adjustable windshield, crash guard and top box, allowing owners to add more touring practicality to the scooter.
The new Aprilia SXR GT range is aimed at riders looking for a scooter that can handle daily urban commuting while also being equipped for longer weekend rides.
