- Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini could launch soon
- Both of the devices may be equipped with upgraded Siri
- They are likely to roll out along with Apple's major software updates
Apple is reportedly preparing to unveil new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini models later this year, marking the first major refresh for the devices in years. The current HomePod mini debuted in 2020, while the latest Apple TV 4K arrived in 2022.
According to Mark Gurman of Bloomberg, the hardware for both products has been ready for months and is already being used internally by Apple employees. However, the company has reportedly delayed their release to align with the rollout of its next-generation Siri experience powered by Apple Intelligence.
Now, the updated Siri is expected to make its debut alongside iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 at WWDC 2026 on June 9. If Apple's software roadmap stays on track, the new Apple TV 4K and HomePod mini could arrive in the second half of 2026 — likely around September, which would put them in line with the public release of the updated Siri and Apple's major software updates.
New chips expected
While Apple is expected to upgrade the internals of both devices, reports suggest users should not expect major design changes.
The current Apple TV 4K runs on the A15 Bionic chip. The upcoming model is widely rumoured to receive the A17 Pro processor, which would enable support for Apple Intelligence features and improved performance. The device may also include Apple's in-house networking chip with support for newer connectivity standards such as Wi-Fi 7.
The HomePod mini is also due for a hardware refresh. It is expected to move from the ageing S5 chip to a newer S9 processor or beyond. However, it remains unclear how Apple plans to deliver advanced AI-powered Siri features on the compact smart speaker.
Gurman also says the Apple TV 4K will likely retain a similar design to the current generation.
Apple TV remote may receive a refresh
Apple’s Siri Remote could receive a minor refresh with the new Apple TV 4K. While the company kept its lips tight, reports suggest Apple could make minor changes to the accessory alongside the launch of the new Apple TV 4K.
The refreshes have reportedly been delayed for several months because Apple wanted them to launch alongside its more personalised Siri experience. The company has faced multiple setbacks in bringing its next-generation voice assistant to market, pushing back the timeline for several related products.
Beyond these devices, Apple is also rumoured to be working on an updated full-sized HomePod and a dedicated smart home hub, both of which are believed to be tied to the company's broader AI and Siri strategy.
