Traffic movement between Delhi and Noida was severely hit on Tuesday morning as security arrangements for Swiss President Guy Parmelin’s visit to Noida International Airport, Jewar led to restrictions at several points. The DND was particularly affected, with vehicles caught in long queues and commuters reporting severe congestion.
Senior police officer Dr Rajeev Narain Mishra said extensive security arrangements had been put in place ahead of Parmelin’s scheduled visit to Jewar. He said a four-layer security arrangement had been implemented, with checking provisions at the borders and verification being carried out at hotels, dhabas and dharamshalas.
The police have also put in place outer and inner cordons, while a traffic advisory has been issued for the movement of vehicles during the visit.
Several commuters also took to X to complain about being stuck in traffic, with cars seen sandwiched in the congestion on the DND. One user said the entire stretch from Akshardham to Noida Sector 16 near the Mayur Vihar flyover was blocked, claiming they had been stuck for 35 minutes.
Another commuter reported heavy traffic on routes connecting Noida and Greater Noida, including the Ashram-Noida and Akshardham-Noida stretches.
