Russia's Federal Security Service (FSB) said it had received information from the United States about preparations for a possible terrorist attack in Moscow and was taking appropriate measures.
The FSB received the information through established partner channels, Russian news agency RIA reported on Saturday.
Separately, the US Embassy in Moscow said it was "aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event" scheduled for Saturday at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in the Russian capital. It added that the US government was coordinating with Russian authorities over the threat.
The Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve, a palace museum and park complex in southern Moscow, has been temporarily closed. Access to the park has also been restricted, RIA reported, citing Russian law enforcement agencies.
The latest warning comes against the backdrop of a previous US alert in March 2024, when the US Embassy in Moscow warned that extremists had imminent plans to carry out an attack in the Russian capital.
Days after that warning, gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue outside Moscow, killing more than 140 people.
