- It is currently the best smartphone deal of 2026
- With phone prices rising across the industry, Amazon's aggressive discounts make the S25 Ultra a good deal
Buying a flagship smartphone in 2026 has become more expensive than many expected. Several brands have either increased prices or are expected to do so as rising component costs continue to affect the industry. But Samsung seems to be taking a different route, at least for now. During the Amazon Prime Day Sale, the company is offering one of its biggest discounts yet on the Galaxy S25 Ultra, making it one of the most attractive premium phone deals available this year.
The Galaxy S25 Ultra, which was launched in India last year at Rs 1,29,999, is currently available for Rs 84,999 on Amazon for the base 256GB storage model. That is a flat discount of Rs 45,000, bringing the price of Samsung's former flagship to a level that is difficult to ignore for anyone looking to buy a premium Android smartphone.
The obvious question is whether it still makes sense to buy a phone that is now around a year old when the newer Galaxy S26 Ultra is already available. For many buyers, the answer is yes.
Why the Galaxy S25 Ultra still makes a lot of sense
The biggest reason is value for money. At Rs 84,999, the Galaxy S25 Ultra still delivers almost everything most flagship buyers expect. It has premium design, top-tier performance, an excellent display, flagship cameras and long-term software support.
Samsung has committed to seven years of Android and security updates for the device. That means buyers can continue using it for several more years without worrying about missing important software features or security patches. Unlike older flagship phones that quickly lose software support, the S25 Ultra still has a long life ahead.
Performance also remains one of its biggest strengths. Powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite processor and paired with 12GB RAM, the phone continues to handle demanding Android games, multitasking and heavy apps without any noticeable issues. For most users, there is little reason to feel limited by its performance even in 2026.
The 6.9-inch AMOLED display also remains one of Samsung's best. In fact, some users may even prefer it over the newer model because it seemingly offers more natural viewing angles and appears slightly brighter without the privacy display technology introduced on the Galaxy S26 Ultra.
Camera performance is another area where buyers are not giving up much. The Galaxy S25 Ultra shares almost the same camera hardware as the Galaxy S26 Ultra, along with the same 5,000mAh battery. While Samsung has improved low-light photography on the newer phone with a wider aperture on the main camera, the overall photography experience remains very similar in everyday use.
Should you spend more on the Galaxy S26 Ultra?
That depends on what you want from your next phone.
Amazon is currently selling the Galaxy S26 Ultra for Rs 1,24,999, down from its launch price of Rs 1,39,999. While the flat Rs 15,000 discount is attractive, buyers still end up paying around Rs 40,000 more than the Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The newer flagship does offer several upgrades. It uses Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with an expanded vapour chamber, delivering roughly 20 percent better CPU performance and around 30 percent faster graphics performance. Samsung has also upgraded charging speeds to 60W wired and 25W wireless, compared to 45W wired and 15W wireless charging on the S25 Ultra.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra is also slightly thinner and lighter, featuring rounder edges that improve in-hand comfort. It also introduces Samsung's new privacy display feature.
However, these improvements mainly benefit buyers who want Samsung's latest hardware and are willing to pay extra for it. For everyone else, the real-world experience on the Galaxy S25 Ultra remains extremely close.
Samsung's pricing strategy stands out in 2026
Perhaps the biggest reason why the Galaxy S25 Ultra has become such a compelling buy is because of what is currently happening in the smartphone market.
Many smartphone brands, such as OnePlus and Realme, have either increased prices or are facing pressure from rising component costs. Apple has already raised prices for several MacBook and iPad models, while concerns remain that similar price adjustments could eventually affect iPhones as well.
Samsung, however, has not only avoided increasing prices on its premium smartphones but has also allowed both the Galaxy S25 Ultra and Galaxy S26 Ultra to become considerably cheaper during sale events.
One possible reason could be Samsung's unique position in the semiconductor industry. The company is one of the world's largest memory chip manufacturers, supplying memory to technology companies including Nvidia, Google and Apple, according to a report by Reuters. At a time when AI demand has created a global memory shortage and driven up DRAM and NAND prices, Samsung's chip business is reporting record profits, thanks to stronger demand and higher memory prices. A few industry analysts recently told India Today Tech that memory supply will remain tight through at least next year. While Samsung has not linked its smartphone pricing to its chip business, its position as a leading memory supplier may give it more flexibility than many rivals as component costs continue to rise. Earlier today, Reuters reported that Samsung is expected to post another record quarterly operating profit as AI demand continues to push memory chip prices higher.
Coming back to the smartphone deal, if your budget is around Rs 85,000 and you want a flagship Android phone that will comfortably last for years, the Galaxy S25 Ultra is arguably one of the strongest smartphone deals available in 2026. It delivers flagship performance, premium cameras, excellent software support and long-term value while saving buyers nearly Rs 45,000 compared to its original launch price. That combination is exactly what makes this deal stand out.
