CBSE extends Class 12 verification, re-evaluation application deadline till June 7
CBSE has extended the deadline for Class 12 verification and re-evaluation applications by one day, from June 6 (midnight) to June 7 (midnight), to give students additional time to complete the process.
by India Today Education Desk · India TodayThe Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Friday extended the deadline for submission of applications for verification of marks and re-evaluation of answers for Class 12 board examinations till June 7. The facility is available for candidates who have opted to receive scanned copies of their answer scripts.
As per the revised schedule, the last date for submitting applications, which was earlier June 6 (midnight), has now been extended to June 7 (midnight). The extension has been granted “in the interest of students” to provide additional time and ease in completing the application process.
The extension comes amid an ongoing investigation into coordinated cyberattacks targeting CBSE’s Post-Result Services Portal, which is used by hundreds of thousands of students across the country for verification and re-evaluation applications.
The portal was activated at approximately 4.30 am on June 2, only after the completion of all security checks, the board said, following concerns raised by several students on social media regarding issues with the Online Student Management (OSM) system.
Reports of blurred answer sheet images and missing pages have triggered anxiety among students awaiting verification and re-evaluation results.
Earlier in the day, CBSE said that within two minutes of the portal going live, the platform recorded nearly 1.5 million access requests and blocked over 100,000 unauthorised attempts during the same period.
“The traffic profile showed coordinated high-volume request bursts consistent with DDoS-type patterns, which were successfully mitigated by the deployed security architecture,” the board said.
Officials added that the early surge highlighted the scale of demand, as students rushed to access post-result services immediately after the portal was activated.
In a separate update, CBSE said its post-result grievance redressal portal had successfully processed 70,433 applications as of June 4. This included 7,314 applications for verification of marks and 63,119 applications for re-evaluation.
The board further confirmed that on June 3, the portal faced a malicious Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack involving nearly 3.8 million packets. However, it said that the system remained secure and fully operational due to timely intervention by technical teams.
The attack occurred during peak usage hours when thousands of students were simultaneously accessing the platform to submit post-result requests.
Delhi Police on Friday registered an FIR and launched an investigation into a series of “coordinated” and “sophisticated” cyberattacks targeting the CBSE’s post-result services portal, officials said on Friday.
According to officials, a case has been registered under Sections 66 and 43(f) of the Information Technology Act after the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) filed a formal complaint with the Intelligence Fusion and Strategic Operations (IFSO) unit of the Delhi Police.
