- Linx Dating's premium matchmaking service costs over $500,000
- AI professionals are turning to matchmakers to find compatible partners
- Dating app fatigue is driving demand for personalised matchmaking
The AI boom is creating a new set of wealthy professionals in Silicon Valley, and some of them are willing to spend lakhs or even crores of rupees to find a life partner. Amy Andersen, founder of California-based Linx Dating, is among the matchmakers benefiting from this growing demand, with her most expensive services costing more than $500,000 (around Rs 4.7 crore), according to Bloomberg.
Andersen has spent 23 years helping people find romantic partners. However, she says business has picked up considerably in recent years as employees of AI companies such as Anthropic and Perplexity, along with professionals from industries benefiting from the technology boom, seek help with their personal lives.
Her clients, aged between 20 and 75, pay for a service that goes beyond introducing two people. Andersen searches for potential partners through social events, online platforms and a private database of around 25,000 singles. Her packages can also include professional photoshoots, wardrobe advice, image consulting and coaching before and after dates.
AI wealth fuels expensive matchmaking
Linx Dating charges a starting fee of $75,000 (roughly Rs 71 lakh), with its VIP packages costing upwards of $500,000 (roughly Rs 4.7 crore). The price depends on how long a client signs up for, how difficult the search is and how many introductions they want. Some VIP customers also pay additional bonuses when they enter exclusive relationships, get engaged or marry, with these payments often running into hundreds of thousands of dollars.
The growing interest comes as AI companies create substantial wealth for employees, including those who are not in senior leadership positions. The prospect of valuable stock holdings has also made expensive personal services easier to afford for some technology workers.
Andersen is not the only matchmaker seeing this trend. Cassindy Chao, who runs AWM Love and primarily works with wealthy Asian professionals, charges between $40,000 and $250,000. She says many people have spent years concentrating on their careers and building companies, only to realise later that they have little experience navigating relationships.
Chao recently advised 28-year-old San Francisco entrepreneur Monty Ngan on dating more intentionally. After helping him reconsider what he wanted from a relationship, she encouraged him to approach dating apps differently. He subsequently met his current girlfriend on Hinge.
Dating apps lose their appeal
The expensive matchmaking business is also benefiting from growing dissatisfaction with dating apps. Some users find endless swiping tiring and feel that online profiles do little to establish a meaningful connection. Matchmakers offer a more personalised approach, searching for suitable partners and helping clients prepare for dates. However, the service does not guarantee a successful relationship.
Jonathan Axelrad, a 64-year-old Silicon Valley lawyer and AI company adviser, turned to Andersen after losing his wife and deciding to start dating again. He had not been on a date since the 1980s and wanted help navigating the process. Andersen arranged around three dozen dates for him, including virtual and in-person meetings. Axelrad eventually met pediatric psychologist Christine Gray, and the two have been together for more than two years.
Other services charge considerably less. Three Day Rule, for instance, offers packages starting at $6,300, while its most expensive membership costs $100,000. Tawkify's matchmaking services range from around $4,900 to $70,000.
