A new leak suggests Oppo is ready to challenge traditional tall displays with a wide-screen form factor and dual 200MP cameras.

- It is expected to run on a MediaTek Dimensity 9000-series chip
Smartphones today have mostly settled into tall and narrow screens, but that look might soon change. Following the trend set by foldable phones and the recent launch of Huawei’s Pura X View in China, wide-screen phones are reportedly heading back into fashion.
Chinese smartphone maker Oppo now appears ready to jump on this bandwagon. According to tipster Gadgetsdata, Oppo is actively working on a brand-new device that could launch under the moniker ‘Oppo Reno X’.
A throwback to wide, phablet displays
Unlike the slim, stretched-out handsets filling shop shelves today, the leaked Oppo Reno X is tipped to arrive as a compact yet notably wide slab phone. The form factor brings back memories of early phablets like the original Samsung Galaxy Note from 2011.
The phone is tipped to sport a 6.35-inch OLED display with an uncommon 16:9 or 16:10 aspect ratio, giving it a squarish, tablet-like look. Despite its broader profile, the panel is said to deliver sharp visuals with a 1.5K resolution and a smooth 120Hz refresh rate, all held together by a sturdy metal frame.
Dual 200MP cameras and flagship performance
Under the hood, the Reno X is tipped to run on an unnamed flagship MediaTek Dimensity 9000-series processor. Photography also looks set to be a major selling point. The report claims the phone will feature a powerful triple rear camera array, highlighted by two separate 200-megapixel sensors.
One 200-megapixel sensor will serve as the primary shooter, while the second will power a periscope telephoto lens for long-range zoom. Backing them up is a 50-megapixel ultrawide sensor.
Following the Huawei playbook
The move mirrors Huawei's recent playbook with the Pura X View, which paired a wide 6.39-inch screen and a 200-megapixel main sensor with a massive 7,000mAh battery. While battery details for Oppo's entrant remain unconfirmed, the Reno branding indicates it will target buyers looking for a premium experience.
Expected pricing and availability
In India, Oppo’s Reno lineup has steadily climbed up the price ladder due to industry-wide component costs. With current models like the Reno 16c and Reno 16 selling between Rs 46,999 and Rs 72,999, the upcoming Reno X will likely command a premium price tag if and when it arrives on Indian shores. Oppo has not yet made an official statement regarding the phone or its launch timeline.
