The Vvaan box office Day 3: Sidharth-Tamannaah film shows strong growth

The Vvaan - Force of the Forest, starring Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia, saw a strong box office performance over its first weekend, crossing Rs 33 crore nett in India by Day 3. Despite facing stiff competition from Nani's The Paradise and the long-running Hanuman Ansh, the film's folk-horror theme has garnered mixed reviews, praised for its premise but critiqued for its execution.

Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia's The Vvaan - Force of the Forest continued its upward trajectory at the box office on its first weekend. The film recorded its biggest single-day collection so far on Day 3, taking its India nett total past the Rs 33-crore mark.

According to trade website Sacnilk, The Vvaan collected Rs 14 crore nett on Day 3. Its India gross collection now stands at Rs 39.65 crore, while the film has earned Rs 3.50 crore gross overseas so far. With this, the film's worldwide gross collection has reached Rs 43.15 cro

The Vvaan box office collection

The film opened with Rs 8 crore nett on Day 1 before seeing a jump on its second day. It earned Rs 11 crore nett on Day 2, taking its India nett total to Rs 19 crore.

The Day 3 collection marks another rise, with the film adding Rs 14 crore nett to its domestic total. The three-day India nett collection now stands at Rs 33.25 crore.

The film's overseas performance has also remained steady. After earning Rs 1.25 crore gross on both Day 2 and Day 3, its overseas gross total has reached Rs 3.50 crore.

The Vvaan is competing with Nani's The Paradise, which released on September 24, as well as Hanuman Ansh, which is continuing its theatrical run in its seventh week.

The Vvaan faces tough competion

Meanwhile, Nani's The Paradise continued its strong run at the box office on Day 4. The Srikanth Odela directorial saw a collection of Rs 15.70 crore nett across 6,764 shows on its fourth day.

The film's total India gross collection has now reached Rs 109 crore, while its domestic nett stands at Rs 92.10 crore. Overseas, The Paradise added another Rs 2 crore gross, taking its total international collection to Rs 29.25 crore. With this, the film's worldwide gross collection has climbed to Rs 138.25 crore.

Meanwhile, Hanuman Ansh continues to show remarkable staying power despite being well into its theatrical run. The film has grossed Rs 401.20 crore worldwide, including Rs 362.70 crore from India and Rs 38.50 crore overseas.

The Vvaan - Force of the Forest received two stars from India Today. In her review, the film's folk-horror premise was described as promising, but the execution was found lacking.

“What makes The Vvaan frustrating is that there is a good folk tale buried somewhere underneath all this. A goddess, a forbidden forest, an ancient bloodline, a grieving couple and a village caught between faith and modernity: the ingredients are right there. The film simply keeps adding to the pot instead of letting the original flavours come through,” the review read.

Directed by Karthik Gattamneni, The Vvaan features Sidharth Malhotra and Tamannaah Bhatia in the lead, with Anup Soni, Sunil Grover, Shweta Tiwari and Maniesh Paul in supporting roles.
