A hit-and-run incident occurred in Uttar Pradesh’s Greater Noida on Friday, when a speeding car hit four students in the Knowledge Park area before the driver fled the spot. Police later recovered the car and arrested the driver, identified as Manish, a Greater Noida resident.

A video capturing the incident has surfaced on social media and is rapidly gaining traction. The footage shows a black Alto suddenly swerving towards the students, who were standing beneath a tree along the roadside. The car appears to lose control before mounting the footpath and hitting the students.

After hitting the students, the car comes to a halt for a few seconds. The driver then appears to drive away from the spot, taking a turn towards the main road.

While no casualties have been reported, one of the students suffered serious injuries after his leg was fractured as he was run over by the car. All the injured students received treatment and are out of danger.

Sources close to the development told India Today that the Alto was being used to perform stunts on the road in front of a GN Group of Institutions campus when the accident occurred. The driver lost control of the vehicle while performing the stunts, causing it to swerve onto the footpath and hit the students.

The video of the incident subsequently drew attention on social media, following which local police took cognisance of the matter and launched a probe. A case was registered, and police teams began working to identify and trace the driver involved in the crash.

Several police teams conducted raids at multiple locations as part of the search for the accused. Police also recovered the car involved in the incident during the investigation.

On Saturday, police arrested Manish, who was driving the car at the time of the accident. Investigators are now examining the circumstances surrounding the crash, including how the driver lost control.
