Honda's first electric SUV now on Indian roads, here's what the interior looks like

Fresh spy shots of Honda's upcoming 0 Alpha EV have revealed its cabin for the first time, highlighting a giant touchscreen, digital instrument cluster and a tech-focused interior ahead of its 2027 launch.

Honda's upcoming 0 Alpha electric SUV has been spotted testing once again on Indian roads. While previous sightings focused primarily on the exterior, the latest spy images offer the clearest view yet of the production-bound cabin, revealing a dashboard dominated by a massive freestanding touchscreen and a fully digital driver's display.

The new images suggest Honda is placing a strong emphasis on technology without abandoning conventional usability. Alongside the oversized infotainment display, the prototype appears to retain physical buttons on the centre console, likely for climate control and other frequently used functions, offering a more practical alternative to fully touch-based controls.

The dashboard follows a clean, horizontal layout inspired by the global Honda 0 Series design philosophy. A newly designed three-spoke steering wheel, featuring integrated controls and paddle shifters for regenerative braking adjustment, can also be seen in the prototype. Although the cabin shown belongs to a test vehicle, it provides a strong indication of what the production model is expected to offer.

Despite being wrapped in heavy camouflage, the overall shape of the SUV is now familiar. The upright proportions, tall roofline and squared-off silhouette remain intact, giving the 0 Alpha a distinctive appearance compared to Honda's current lineup in India.

At the front, the SUV features rectangular LED lighting elements connected by a slim black panel, while the rear is characterised by vertically stacked tail-lamps and a clean, almost upright tailgate. The generous glass area and boxy profile also suggest that cabin space has been prioritised alongside aerodynamic efficiency. Production-spec alloy wheels remain hidden beneath camouflage covers.

India-built EV set for 2027 debut

Honda has already confirmed that the 0 Alpha will be manufactured in India for both domestic sales and export markets, making it a key part of the company's renewed electric vehicle strategy. The SUV is expected to arrive in early 2027 and will slot into the premium midsize electric SUV segment.

While technical specifications remain under wraps, once launched, it will take on rivals such as the Mahindra BE 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, Tata Sierra EV, Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Toyota Urban Cruiser eBella and MG Windsor.

Honda's broader India roadmap

The 0 Alpha is only one piece of Honda's long-term product offensive for India. During its recent global financial presentation, the company identified India as one of its priority markets alongside North America and Japan.

Honda has already introduced the updated City in 2026 and is preparing to launch the ZR-V Hybrid SUV in the coming weeks. Looking further ahead, the automaker has confirmed two additional India-focused SUVs from 2028 onwards, including a sub-four-metre SUV and a new midsize SUV.

Acknowledging that its earlier global product strategy did not fully align with Indian customer expectations, Honda says future models will be developed with greater local engineering input, balancing performance, features and pricing more effectively.
