Mahindra has unveiled the Scorpio Lifestyler, its new global lifestyle pickup, which will launch in India by April 2027 with prices starting below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
by Auto Today · India TodayMahindra has unveiled its new global lifestyle pickup, which will be sold as the Scorpio Lifestyler in India and simply as the Lifestyler in international markets. The pickup is set to arrive in India by April 2027, with prices starting below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom).
Based on the Global Pik Up concept first showcased in 2023, the Scorpio Lifestyler is Mahindra’s latest attempt to establish a stronger presence in the lifestyle pickup segment. In India, it will take on the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, while the international-spec model will be targeted at markets including Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Africa, the Middle East and Latin America.
The Scorpio Lifestyler has been developed by Mahindra’s India Design Studio in Mumbai and Mahindra Research Valley in Chennai. The company says the pickup has been engineered as a global product, combining a body-on-frame platform with off-road capability, technology and SUV-like comfort.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Exterior design
The production-spec pickup retains the bold proportions seen on the earlier concept, while featuring several design elements inspired by Mahindra’s current SUV line-up. At the front, it gets a wide grille, high-set LED headlamps with L-shaped daytime running light signatures and vertically stacked LED fog lamps.
The bonnet carries a prominent Scorpio nameplate, while the front bumper gets a chunky skid plate with Mahindra lettering. The side profile features a double-cab layout, pronounced wheel arches, chunky body cladding, roof rails and dual-tone alloy wheels wrapped in off-road-oriented tyres.
At the rear, the Scorpio Lifestyler gets vertically oriented LED tail-lamps with C-shaped lighting elements. A large Mahindra wordmark is integrated into the tailgate, while the rear bumper follows the rugged design theme of the front end.
Mahindra will showcase the pickup in three editions — Valley, Reef and Trail. Each version gets a different exterior finish and is intended to highlight a different aspect of the vehicle, from everyday usability to outdoor adventure.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Interior and features
The cabin takes a more premium approach than the rugged exterior. The dashboard features a large portrait-oriented touchscreen positioned between the air vents, with a separate climate-control section and several physical controls below it.
The driver gets a three-spoke steering wheel and a digital instrument display, while the centre console houses additional physical controls. Mahindra has not revealed the complete equipment list yet, but the Scorpio Lifestyler is expected to offer features such as connected-car technology, dual-zone climate control, smartphone connectivity and multiple terrain modes.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler Engine specs
Mahindra has not confirmed the powertrain specifications of the India-spec Scorpio Lifestyler yet. However, the pickup could borrow its engines from the Scorpio N, including the 2.2-litre diesel and 2.0-litre turbo-petrol units.
The Scorpio N's diesel engine produces 175hp, while its turbo-petrol engine develops 203hp. The Lifestyler could also get the Scorpio N's 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque-converter automatic gearbox options, although these specifications are yet to be officially confirmed.
Given its positioning as a lifestyle pickup with off-road capability, four-wheel drive is also expected to be offered.
Mahindra Scorpio Lifestyler India price and rivals
The Scorpio Lifestyler will be priced below Rs 19.79 lakh (ex-showroom) when it goes on sale in India by April 2027. This would give Mahindra a significant price advantage over the Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross, both of which are positioned above the Rs 25 lakh mark.
With the Lifestyler, Mahindra is looking to combine the practicality of a pickup with the comfort and road presence of an SUV, while using its existing Scorpio brand equity to make a stronger entry into India's lifestyle pickup market.
