Mahindra SUV sales rise 14% in September 2026, total vehicle sales up 15%
Mahindra recorded 14% growth in domestic SUV sales in September 2026, while total vehicle sales rose 15%, as strong demand helped the automaker maintain its growth momentum.
by Saumya Shubham Jha · India TodayMahindra and Mahindra reported a 14% year-on-year increase in domestic SUV sales in September 2026, with the automaker selling 64,092 utility vehicles during the month. Total vehicle sales, including exports, stood at 1,14,874 units, registering a 15% growth over the same month last year.
The company’s domestic passenger vehicle sales were entirely driven by its utility vehicle portfolio, with no cars or vans reported. SUV sales increased from 56,233 units in September 2025 to 64,092 units in September 2026.
Mahindra’s year-to-date performance has also remained strong. Between April and September 2026, the company sold 3,58,142 utility vehicles in the domestic market, up 20% compared to 2,97,570 units during the corresponding period last year.
Commercial vehicle sales grow
Mahindra’s commercial vehicle business also recorded growth during September. Domestic sales of light commercial vehicles below 2 tonnes stood at 4,044 units, a 19% increase from 3,386 units in September 2025.
Sales of LCVs in the 2-tonne to 3.5-tonne category increased 13% year-on-year to 26,376 units, compared to 23,342 units a year earlier.
Three-wheeler sales, including electric three-wheelers, registered a stronger 26% growth, rising to 16,343 units from 13,017 units in September 2025. On a year-to-date basis, three-wheeler sales have grown 53% to 82,058 units.
Mahindra crosses 1 lakh electric origin SUV sales
Commenting on the September performance, Dr Velusamy R, President, Automotive Business, Mahindra & Mahindra, said that SUV sales grew 14% year-on-year in September, while total vehicle sales rose 15%.
He also said that Mahindra has crossed the milestone of 1 lakh Electric Origin SUVs sold since their launch.
Exports, however, declined 7% year-on-year in September to 4,019 units from 4,320 units. Despite the monthly decline, Mahindra's cumulative exports for April-September 2026 stood at 30,031 units, up 48% compared to 20,303 units in the same period last year.
