Honda Cars India is gearing up to unveil the updated 2026 Honda City later this month, and ahead of its official debut, undisguised images of the facelifted sedan have surfaced online. The leaked images reveal a sharper and more premium-looking front-end design along with subtle styling revisions and the possibility of new feature additions.

The updated City adopts a cleaner and more mature design language inspired by Honda’s latest global models such as the Prelude and Accord. While the overall silhouette remains familiar, the facelift brings noticeable updates to the exterior styling to keep the sedan fresh in the highly competitive mid-size sedan segment.

Sharper front fascia with redesigned lighting

The biggest changes are concentrated at the front. The facelifted Honda City gets redesigned LED headlamps with integrated DRLs, a revised grille with a layered honeycomb-style mesh pattern and a reworked bumper featuring angular inserts and a cleaner lower air intake section. Another notable change is the repositioned Honda logo, which now sits above the grille on the bonnet, lending the sedan a more premium appearance.

The refreshed grille stretches more seamlessly between the headlamps, visually making the sedan appear wider. The side profile remains largely unchanged, although the facelift is expected to get newly designed dual-tone alloy wheels on higher variants. The rear section is also likely to receive minor updates, including revised tail lamp detailing and a tweaked bumper design.

Interior updates and new features expected

Inside, Honda is expected to introduce subtle revisions rather than a complete overhaul. Spy images suggest the inclusion of a larger freestanding touchscreen infotainment system, replacing the current 8.0-inch unit, which could result in slight changes to the dashboard layout.

Feature additions are likely to include ventilated front seats, a powered driver’s seat and a 360-degree camera system. Honda may also update the connected car technology and introduce new upholstery and trim finishes to enhance cabin appeal.

The current City already offers a strong safety package with six airbags, vehicle stability assist, hill start assist, tyre pressure monitoring system and the Honda SENSING ADAS suite. The facelift is expected to continue offering features such as adaptive cruise control, collision mitigation braking system, lane keep assist, road departure mitigation and auto high beam assist.

Engine options to remain unchanged

Mechanically, the Honda City facelift is expected to retain the existing powertrain options. These include the 1.5-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine producing 121bhp and 145Nm, paired with either a 6-speed manual gearbox or a CVT automatic.

Honda is also likely to continue offering the 126hp strong hybrid e:HEV powertrain paired with an e-CVT transmission.

Expected pricing and rivals

The updated Honda City is expected to command a slight premium over the current model, which is priced between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 20 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will continue to rival the likes of the Hyundai Verna, Skoda Slavia and Volkswagen Virtus in the Indian market. give a headline in 80 characters something like This is how the Honda City facelift looks, launch on May 22
