Maruti Baleno facelift likely to launch on September 5 with subtle design and feature updates

Maruti Suzuki is likely going to launch the Baleno facelift on September 5, bringing subtle styling revisions, potential new features and an unchanged powertrain to its premium hatchback.

Maruti Suzuki is likely going to introduce the facelifted Baleno on September 5, 2026, bringing a series of cosmetic and equipment upgrades to its popular premium hatchback. The updated model will continue to sit below the brand’s larger premium offerings and is expected to command a modest premium over the outgoing version.

The Baleno entered its second generation in 2022 and has since remained largely unchanged. Ahead of the facelift’s launch, test mules have revealed several changes that Maruti is likely to introduce to keep the hatchback competitive in an increasingly feature-rich segment.

Baleno facelift gets a sharper-looking front end

The biggest visual revisions are expected at the front. Spy images indicate that the Baleno facelift will feature a redesigned grille with a slim horizontal element running between the headlights. The new treatment could give the hatchback a wider appearance, while the existing projector LED headlights and boomerang-shaped daytime running lights are expected to be carried over.

The front bumper is also likely to be redesigned. Interestingly, the test vehicle spotted on road did not feature the fog lamps seen on the current Baleno, suggesting that Maruti could alter the lower section of the bumper as part of the facelift.

Changes along the sides are expected to be limited to a fresh set of alloy wheels, with the overall profile remaining familiar. At the rear, the tail-lights are likely to retain their current design, while a revised bumper could provide a subtle visual update. The roof spoiler and rear wiper are expected to continue.

Cabin layout remains familiar, but new features could be added

The facelifted Baleno is unlikely to receive a major dashboard redesign. The test mule featured the same basic layout as the current model, including the 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system, trapezoidal air-conditioning vents and three-spoke multifunction steering wheel.

Maruti could instead focus on improving the cabin ambience through new upholstery, revised interior trims and a different colour theme. The company could also add ambient lighting and a single-pane sunroof, both of which are available on some of the Baleno’s key rivals.

Other existing equipment, including automatic climate control, a six-speaker audio system, powered ORVMs and an auto-dimming IRVM, is expected to remain available.

Existing petrol and CNG engines likely to continue

There are not expected to be any major mechanical changes with the facelift. The Baleno should continue with its 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, producing around 90bhp and 113Nm, paired with either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT.

The CNG version is also expected to remain part of the lineup. It currently produces around 77bhp and 98.5Nm and is offered with a manual gearbox.

Baleno facelift price and rivals

With the addition of new styling elements and potentially more equipment, the facelift is expected to receive a small price increase. Once launched, the updated Baleno will continue to compete with the Hyundai i20, Tata Altroz and Toyota Glanza. More details, including variant-wise features and pricing, are expected to be announced closer to the September 5 launch.
