IIT Delhi introduces 6-month online programme focused on Agentic AI

IIT Delhi has launched a 6-month online Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI, covering autonomous systems, LLMs, multi-agent systems, workflows, RAG and deployment, with hands-on projects and an enterprise-focused capstone.

by · India Today

In Short

  • IIT Delhi launches Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI starting Sept 26, 2026.
  • Course covers autonomous AI, multi-agent systems, and enterprise deployment.
  • Live Saturday classes with hands-on projects using tools like LangChain and AutoGen.

The Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI by the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is designed to provide learners with an understanding of autonomous AI systems and their application in real-world environments. The live online programme will be delivered by IIT Delhi faculty and will cover areas ranging from the foundations of autonomous agents to production-grade enterprise deployment.

The curriculum will provide hands-on exposure to more than 10 industry-grade tools, including LangChain, AutoGen and CrewAI. Each module will conclude with a hands-on project, progressively leading to a final enterprise capstone project where candidates will design, build, and deploy a fully functional AI agent, according to IIT Delhi's website.

COURSE DETAILS, FEE AND ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

The Advanced Certificate in Agentic AI will begin on September 26, 2026, and conclude on March 20, 2027. Classes will be conducted live online on Saturdays from 3:30 pm to 6:30 pm.

The course fee is 1,45,000 plus 18 per cent GST.

Candidates applying for the programme should be graduates or diploma holders with a minimum of one year of work experience. Basic Python scripting ability and a conceptual understanding of AI/ML are recommended.

MODULES

The programme will cover six modules:

  • Foundations of Agentic AI & Autonomous Systems
  • LLMs as Reasoning Engines for Agentic Systems
  • Designing Autonomous Multi-Agent Systems
  • Agentic Workflows, Automation & Decision Orchestration
  • Real-World Agentic AI Engineering (RAG, Deployment, Governance)
  • Capstone Project: Enterprise-Ready Agentic AI System

LEARNING OUTCOMES

According to the official IIT Delhi website, the following are the learning outcomes of the course:

Understand How Autonomous AI Systems Think and Act: The programme will introduce learners to the fundamentals of Agentic AI and autonomous systems. Candidates will learn how goal-driven agents observe, reason, act, and learn in real-world environments.

Turn LLMs into Reliable Reasoning Engines: Learners will explore the use of LLMs as reasoning engines and work with advanced prompting, planning, reflection and constraint techniques to design reliable, self-directed AI agents.

Design Intelligent Single and Multi-Agent Systems: The course will cover the design and deployment of single-agent and multi-agent systems. Learners will work on intelligent task decomposition, coordination, and collaboration across complex workflows.

Build End-to-End Agentic Workflows at Scale: Candidates will learn to build end-to-end agentic workflows and automation pipelines by orchestrating agents, tools, APIs and legacy systems using modern MCP-based frameworks.

Develop Production-Ready Agentic AI Solutions: The programme will focus on engineering production-ready Agentic AI solutions incorporating RAG, long-term memory and state management, along with scalable deployment across cloud, edge and hybrid setups.

Ensure Trust, Control, and Responsible Autonomy: Learners will explore reliability, governance, and responsible autonomy, including failure modes, monitoring, risk management, and human-in-the-loop controls for enterprise adoption.

Build and Showcase a Real-World Agentic AI System: The programme will culminate in an enterprise-grade Agentic AI capstone. Candidates will demonstrate real-world impact through a fully functional system designed for business, research or industrial use.
