A security alert was triggered in Hyderabad's Rajiv Gandhi International Airport after authorities received a bomb threat email on Saturday. Sent by an unidentified miscreant, the email claimed that an AirAsia flight, which was set to arrive at the airport from Malaysia, would be blown up long before it reached the destination.
The security personnel were soon alerted, and they took the necessary measures to intensify the security action at Shamshadabad airport.
The development occurred a day after the airport authorities received a similar threat involving a Lufthansa flight heading to Hyderabad from Frankfurt, Germany.
Airport sources told India Today that the airline's customer support received an email claiming that a bomb had been planted on flight LH-754 and that it would be detonated before the aircraft reached Shamshabad. Security agencies were immediately alerted, and emergency protocols were initiated.
However, the flight landed safely at the airport, following which the aircraft was moved to the isolation bay for a detailed security inspection.
Bomb disposal teams and airport security personnel began a thorough examination of the plane. After a detailed round of checking, the officials confirmed that no threat was traced, suggesting the email was a hoax.
Further details for the AirAsia flight are awaited.
