Toyota has confirmed to launch the new generation Toyota Hilux in India this month that is July. The pickup was unveiled globally late last year, now, it will reach the Indian market.
The upcoming Toyota Hilux has received styling updates in it’s exterior with a revised front end that now sports sleeker full LED headlamps paired with a body-coloured mesh grille. The Toyota branding can also be seen on the grille. The lower bumper now features silver inserts and fog lamps.
Meanwhile, the side profile remains broadly familiar to the outgoing model, with the most noticeable change being a new design for the 18-inch alloy wheels. At the rear, the changes are more restrained with the tail lamp internals get a new pattern, the Toyota badging is now finished in black, and a compact shark fin antenna replaces the traditional unit.
Inside the cabin, the new Hilux bears little resemblance to the model it replaces. A rugged-themed dashboard layout houses dual 12.3-inch screens, dual-zone climate control, a stubby new gear lever, a dual glovebox, and a redesigned steering wheel. Going by the global specification, we also expect a 360-degree camera, cooled and powered front seats, and a comprehensive ADAS suite to make it to the India-spec model.

On the powertrain front, the Hilux is expected to continue with the familiar 2.8-litre diesel engine paired with a 4×4 system, available with both manual and automatic gearbox options. There is also a possibility that Toyota could introduce the Fortuner’s recently launched 48-volt mild-hybrid system to the new Hilux, which in its current state of tune produces 201bhp and 420Nm with the manual, or 500Nm with the automatic.
Price in India
The current Hilux is priced between Rs. 28.52 lakh and Rs. 36 lakh, ex-showroom, and is available with both manual and automatic transmissions. For the new generation, we expect a premium of Rs. 2 lakh to Rs. 4 lakh over these figures, given the extent of the changes both inside and out.
