Forest fire near Tarini temple raises concern in Malkangiri

Malkangiri: Forest fire broke out in large extent in the nearby areas of Tarini Temple in Malkangiri district causing panic among the villagers with rising temperature and burning flames continuing to take their toll on the district.

As per reports, the fire that broke out two days back had claimed lives of many valuable trees and wildlife in the surrounding areas and was accompanied with thick smoke billowing which spread throughout the region creating panic among the villagers and disturbed daily routine in the village areas.

The villagers suspect the role of some miscreants who could have intentionally set the fire although the cause still stands unknown.

The outbreak of the fire has occurred when the district is already suffering due to the sweltering summer heat making it more inconvenient for the people.

Forest officials faced the tough task to bring the fire under control which was only achieved after long struggle and continued efforts of many hours.

The incident has once again raise the concerns of increasing frequency of forest fire due to increasing summer heat and destruction to forests and its dwellers.
