Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated a new integrated solar manufacturing facility, Operated by AMPIN Solar One—a joint venture between Jupiter International and AMPIN Energy Transition. The plant is specifically designed to manufacture both solar cells and modules under one roof.
The facility starts strong, with the ability to produce 1.3 GW every year. Most plants only handle assembly, but this one does it all—from making the solar cells to putting together the final modules. That setup gives AMPIN a steady stream of high-performance components, covering its own big utility projects and also supplying other developers all over India.

The plant is part of the Central Government’s Production-Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which exists to help Indian solar tech compete with cheap Chinese imports. The goal is to make India’s solar sector less reliant on imports. This factory is also just one piece of a much bigger ₹3,100 crore investment by AMPIN Energy Transition focused on Eastern India, which includes several renewable energy projects totaling over 600 MW.
Alok Garodia, CMD of Jupiter International, said the facility is meant to be a “manufacturing backbone” for India’s shift to green energy. While the inauguration marks a milestone for Odisha’s industrial landscape, the project’s long-term success will depend on its ability to navigate the global silicon supply chain. For now, it stands as one of the largest operational solar manufacturing hubs in the Eastern region, aligned with Odisha’s goal of meeting a projected doubling of power demand by 2030.
