USA: The Trump administration has suggested a name change for New York’s Penn Station as it plans to rebuild the landmark $8 billion structure.

The plan to rename the station was part of a letter sent to members of Congress by US Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy in a bid to acquire funding for the scheme.

While no new name has been provided, it has led to predictions that the station might be named after current President Trump.

Trump has confirmed he knew about the discussion but stated it wasn’t his idea to rename the station.

The plan to redevelop the station is expected to make it a more pleasant transit hub for commuters with enhanced features and to continue rail traffic throughout the reconstruction project, which should provide it with modern amenities.

It is set to transform one of the busiest train stations in the Western Hemisphere.
