Harley-Davidson has unveiled the much awaited new Sprint 440 small-capacity cruiser. The Harley-Davidson cruiser is priced from £4,995 (approximately Rs. 6 lakh) in the UK. The company plans to launch it globally at the EICMA 2026 in Milan.
The new Sprint 440 sports a teardrop-shaped fuel tank, circular headlamp, shortened rear mudguard, stepped seat and a single exhaust. It also features machined aluminium wheels and a distinctive orange tank graphic. The motorcycle will be available internationally in three colours, Dark Billiard Grey, Vivid Black and Teal Thunder.
The claimed laden seat height of just 671mm making the motorcycle more approachable for shorter riders. Narrow seat and fuel tank further reduce the distance riders need to stretch their legs to reach the ground. The motorcycle weighs about 189kg in running order. Harley-Davidson has also developed optional Reach and Tallboy seats to accommodate riders of different heights.
Powering the Sprint 440 is a 440cc air- and oil-cooled single producing 26.7bhp at 6,000rpm and 38Nm at 4,000rpm. It comes paired with a 6-speed transmission featuring an assist-and-slipper clutch. Engineers tuned the powertrain to deliver usable torque at lower engine speeds suiting relaxed city riding and highway journeys. The company claims fuel efficiency of up to 34kmpl under its combined conditions.

The suspension setup is a 43mm upside-down front forks offering 130mm of travel and twin rear shock absorbers with seven-step preload adjustment. Braking is handled by a 320mm front disc and a 240mm rear disc with ABS as standard. It comes with 19-inch front and 17-inch rear cast aluminium wheels fitted with 100/90 and 150/60 section tyres, respectively.
Sprint 440 receives a circular 3.5-inch colour TFT instrument cluster displaying speed, engine revs, fuel level and trip details. It also gets full-LED lighting and a USB-C charging port positioned above the headlamp. HD has also announced several optional accessories including a detachable windscreen, saddlebags, passenger backrest, engine guard and alternative handlebars.
However, looks like the new motorcycle has a few limitations worth considering. Its 9-litre fuel tank is considerably smaller than the 13.5-litre unit on the India-spec X440. The ground clearance is also relatively modest at 147mm, something that could become relevant on poorly maintained Indian roads. These details suggest the Sprint 440 has been developed primarily around accessible cruiser ergonomics rather than the more versatile road-going character of the X440.
Harley-Davidson has confirmed that the Sprint 440 will enter the American market in spring 2027 with final assembly taking place at its York facility in Pennsylvania. The company is also preparing the motorcycle for several international markets with differing launch schedules. Despite Hero MotoCorp’s involvement in its development, neither manufacturer has announced an Indian launch date or local pricing.
