Kartika Brata: Online registration for free stay of Habishyalis in Puri concludes in 40 minutes

Puri: The online registration for the free stay of Habishyalis in Puri for the upcoming Kartika Brata concluded within 40 minutes of its beginning today.

As per its earlier announcement, the Puri district administration opened the official website https://edistrict.odisha.gov.in for the online registration of Habishyalis from 10 AM onwards.

Online applications were invited from widowed women up to 70 years of age and married women between 50 and 70 years. However, it concluded within 40 minutes after reaching the target of 2,500 registrations.

Speaking to the media persons about the online application of the Habishyalis, Puri district Collector Dibya Jyoti Parida, said, “The online registration mechanism concluded successfully. Now, we will validate each and every application as per the criteria that have been set. The applicants will be informed either their applications have been accepted or rejected. The concerned district administrations will also be intimated about the acceptance and rejection of the applicants.”

Besides, we have started overall preparations to provide all facilities to the Habishyalis after their arrival here in Puri, the Collector added.

It is to be noted here that the Habisyalis will gather in Puri for the Rai Damodar Brata (which is also known as Radha Damodar Puja or Kartika Brata), which is slated to be held between October 26 and November 24. In view of this, the district administration has special made arrangements to accommodate the selected 2,500 Habisyali in three locations namely Brundabati Niwas, the Municipality Kalyan Mandap, and the Railway Tourist Complex.

During their month-long stay at their designated places, the Habisyalis will get all facilities free of cost. Besides, special arrangements will also be made for their hassle free darshan at the Jagannath temple, bhajans and kirtans.

This apart, volunteers will also be deployed at all the three places to assist the Habisyalis.
