New Delhi: In a first-of-its-kind step, the Centre has roped in the Indian Air Force to deliver question papers for the NEET-UG 2026 re-examination to prevent fraud and paper leaks.

The retest is scheduled for June 21, 2026, after the May 3 exam was cancelled nationwide following allegations of a paper leak that triggered protests across the country.

As part of the new security plan, IAF’s special aircraft will carry the papers directly from printing presses to 18 Air Force stations across India. From there, the papers will be moved to exam centres under tight security cover.

This marks the first time the armed forces are being deployed for the logistics of a national entrance exam.

NTA Director General Abhishek Singh said the government is committed to ensuring transparency. The pen-and-paper retest will be taken by over 22 lakh candidates from India and abroad. Fresh admit cards will be issued soon for the exam.

The move is part of a “whole-of-government” approach, with enhanced measures like GPS tracking, biometric checks, and CCTV monitoring being added for the retest.
