Bhubaneswar: The Odisha 4G network expansion is gaining momentum as the state government has issued urgent directions to district collectors to provide land for 707 new mobile towers.

To ensure digital services reach every corner, the Electronics & IT Department has asked collectors to issue NOCs for government land on a priority basis.

The move comes under the Centre’s ‘4G Saturation Project’ funded by Digital Bharat Nidhi. Additional Chief Secretary Vishal Kumar Dev has written to collectors of 23 districts including Angul, Balangir, Kalahandi, Koraput, Mayurbhanj, and Sundargarh.

Each tower requires about 2,000 sq ft of land. So far, NOCs for 294 sites have been issued and work is progressing rapidly. For remaining locations, field officials have been told to identify government land immediately and hand it over to BSNL.
