Heroin Worth Rs 34.67 Crore seized at Delhi Airport by Customs; Passenger Held

New Delhi: Customs officers at IGI Airport, Terminal 3, have foiled a heroin smuggling attempt and arrested one Indian passenger who arrived from Kuala Lumpur on June 16. ANI reported this in an X post today quoting Customs as the source.

Acting on profiling, officers intercepted the passenger at the Green Channel. During X-ray screening and a detailed check of two trolley bags, four packets containing white powder were found. Diagnostic testing showed the substance was prima facie heroin.

The recovered contraband weighed 6,934 grams net. Officials pegged its estimated value at about Rs. 34.67 crore.The passenger was arrested under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985. The suspected heroin and packing material were seized.

Customs said further investigation is underway to trace the network behind the consignment.
