Dr Achyuta Samanta attends Chariot inauguration for maiden Rath Yatra in Florida

Bhubaneswar: A new golden chapter in the history of Jagannath culture and tradition has been created in Tampa, Florida, USA. For the first time, the non-profit organization FLORIA, representing the Odia community of Florida, will be organizing the Shree Jagannath Rath Yatra. The auspicious construction work of the holy chariot for the event has now begun in a deeply devotional atmosphere.

Renowned educationist, social worker, and founder of KIIT & KISS, Dr. Achyuta Samanta, attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and graced the sacred occasion.

Dr. Samanta performed the ceremonial painting on a part of the chariot, marking the formal beginning of its construction. Later, he offered prayers at the Ayyappa Temple and prayed to Lord Jagannath for the successful organization of this historic Rath Yatra.

This first-ever Rath Yatra, to be held on the premises of the Ayyappa Temple in Tampa, will be a historic milestone for the Odia community living in the United States. The grand wooden chariot currently under construction is set to become the largest wooden chariot in the United States. It is not just a chariot, but a living symbol of the deep devotion, unity, dedication, and cultural pride of the Odia diaspora.

Another highlight of the event was the release of a devotional Jagannath song produced by FLORIA. The song “Rathare Bije Mo Jaga Kalia” was launched on this occasion. While releasing the song, Dr. Samanta heartily congratulated all FLORIA members for their commitment and dedication to promoting Odia culture, heritage, and devotion to Lord Jagannath.

With the boundless grace of Mahaprabhu Shree Jagannath and the support of the entire community, FLORIA’s first Rath Yatra in Florida is set to become a historic spiritual and cultural festival. It will further strengthen the unity of Odias living in America and carry the eternal message of Mahaprabhu’s culture and humanity to the global community.
