IndiGo to temporarily suspend flights on six international routes

New Delhi: India’s largest airline, IndiGo, has announced a temporary suspension of services on six international routes as it adjusts its network for the upcoming quarter.
In a statement issued on Thursday, the carrier said flights to Langkawi, Krabi, Ho Chi Minh City, Hong Kong, and Shanghai will be suspended from July 1, 2026, while services to Siem Reap will be paused from July 3. The suspensions are expected to remain in place until September 30, 2026.
According to the airline, the move is part of a temporary network adjustment driven by traditionally lower demand during the period and a challenging operating cost environment. IndiGo said it routinely reviews its route network to align capacity with market conditions and maintain operational efficiency.
The affected destinations span several popular leisure and business travel markets across Southeast and East Asia. Passengers who have already booked tickets on the impacted routes are expected to be offered alternative travel arrangements or refunds in accordance with the airline’s policies.

IndiGo has clarified that bookings for all suspended routes will reopen from October 1, 2026, subject to favourable operating conditions. The airline also stated that it remains prepared to restore services earlier if market circumstances improve.
The announcement comes at a time when airlines worldwide continue to manage fluctuating travel demand, operational costs, and evolving market conditions. Despite the temporary suspension of these routes, IndiGo continues to maintain one of the largest international networks among Indian carriers and has been steadily expanding its overseas footprint in recent years.
Industry observers note that seasonal route adjustments are common in the aviation sector, particularly when airlines seek to optimise aircraft deployment and improve profitability during periods of softer demand.
The airline has advised affected passengers to check flight status updates and contact customer support for assistance regarding bookings.
