Bhubaneswar: Where has the monsoon gone? Satellite images are showing no cloud cover over large parts of the country as the Southwest Monsoon — India’s lifeline — remains stalled midway through June.
Between June 4 and June 15, the country should have received a normal rainfall of 53.7 mm. However, only 19.2 mm has been recorded so far, marking a 64% deficit nationwide, according to data.

Meteorologists attribute the pause to upper air pressure patterns that have stalled monsoon advancement. Despite half of June passing, the crucial Southwest Monsoon remains largely absent across several regions.
