Elderly man goes missing, body found in river after 20-hour search operation in Mayurbhanj

Udala: The body of an elderly man who went missing on Friday, was recovered from the Deo river basin after a long 20 hour search operation on Saturday. The incident took place in Kainsari village near Jamughat bridge over the Deo river in Udala police limits in Mayurbhanj.

The deceased has been identified as Mayadhar Nayak of Kainsari village

According to reports, the elderly man reportedly did not return to home on Friday.So, his family memmbers started searching for him. During search, only his sleepers and innerwear was found near the river, so they suspected that he might have drowned in the waterbody.

So, they immediately informed the Fire Brigade personnel about the incident. On being informed, the fire service personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation in the river on Frida night.

However, they could not locate Mayadhar during the search operation on Friday. So, they continued to search for him on Saturday.

At last, his body was recovered from 17 feet below the water surface in the river after 20 hours long operation.

His body has been sent to the Udala hospital.
