New Delhi: Bharti Airtel has launched three new prepaid recharge plans at Rs 185, Rs 203 and Rs 206, which offer unlimited voice calls and SMS services, but no bundled mobile data.

These plans are for customers who only want to make calls and send text messages and don’t want to pay for internet data they aren’t likely to use.

It has been launched before the deadline set by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) on October 21 for the availability of a dedicated voice-and-SMS only recharge plan.

Plan details:

  • Rs 185: Valid for 28 days; unlimited calls, 300 SMS.
  • Rs 203: Valid for 30 days; unlimited calls, 300 SMS.
  • Rs 206: Valid for one month; unlimited calls, 300 SMS, and you can recharge on the same date every month.

Both the plans offer unlimited local, STD and roaming calls along with 300 SMS during the period of validity. In addition, all the three plans come bundled with the free Hello Tunes access.

One thing to note here is that these new top-up packs will not offer 4G or 5G mobile data benefits, unlike the normal prepaid packs. So, users who are seeking internet access on the go will have to buy a separate data pack or use Wi-Fi.

Some plans could be a good fit for feature-phone customers, those holding a spare SIM, and subscribers who only use Wi-Fi.

The new offerings follow TRAI’s directive requiring telecom operators to provide separate tariff vouchers for voice calls and SMS without bundling mobile data.

This is to give consumers more flexibility and save consumers who don’t use the net from paying for bundled data.

While the three plans are essentially the same, they vary mainly on the price and validity that lets users select according to their monthly recharge needs.
