The term does not imply separation and instead means the adoption of a partner living in a separate room and even in a separate bed.

However, according to the specialists, this solution allows people to improve their quality of sleep.

For example when one partner snores, turns a lot, works long hours, or has a completely different sleep cycle than the other.

The advantage for the two people concerned is that their rest will no longer be disturbed by night time noise.

In the morning, both would be better rested.

They will then feel better and have less problems focusing on their work, etc.

In a study published by the American Academy of Sleep Medicine, more than one in three adults says they have slept, at least sometimes, separate from their spouse or significant other in order to sleep better.

According to sleep specialists, bad quality sleep can increase the levels of anxiety and stress in the couple and lead to an escalation of conflicts.

Thus, they conclude that sleeping properly should be considered an essential element of a couple relationship.

But the sleep divorce is not suitable for everyone, and although this helps to get better quality sleep, it can also reduce the opportunities for physical contact and intimacy, unless a couple really wants to see each other regularly and in good quality and time together.

It’s therefore important that the decision to divorce their sleep needs to be the subject of an agreement and conversation.
