Ganja worth 19 lakhs seized from luxury car in Cuttack, three arrested

Cuttack: A staggering amount of ganja was recovered during raids at two different places by the Mobile Unit of the district Excise Department in Cuttack which culminated in the arrest of three individuals including a woman.

As per reports, the first raid saw excise officers stopping a luxury car on the Kazipatna border along the Kuakhai Bridge within Cuttack Sadar limits and recovering close to 70 kg of ganja.

The illicit drug is suspected to have a value of nearly 19 lakhs in the underground market.

Officials acted on a tip and made the arrests after discovering ganja in the said car and took legal action against persons found involved in the trafficking.

Two persons including a woman were detained following the seizure.

In another seizure at Jagatpur Golai Chhak, the excise team took into custody another person suspected of dealing with drugs and confiscated 10 kg of ganja from him.

A motorcycle which was used by the individual in question was also impounded.

In both operations cumulatively, over 80 kg of ganja has been confiscated and three persons arrested.

Investigations are on to determine the source of the ganja and where it was destined for.
