All new BMW M5 with total power output of 727hp launched in India, gets a price tag of Rs 1.99 crore

German carmaker BMW has launched the all-new BMW M5 in India. The sedan is the seventh generation of the sedan and it costs Rs 1.99 crore (ex-showroom, India). This new generation of BMW M5 gets a plug-in hybrid V8 powertrain and is the most powerful version of the car. The price of the sedan has however gone up as compared to older generation model. The model that launched in 2021 used to cost Rs 1.62 crore (ex-showroom).

Engine

The All new BMW M5 is powered by a 4.4-litre twin-turbo V8 engine that also comes with electric motor. We get an eight speed automatic transmission on-board. The maximum power is 585hp and peak torque is 750Nm. We get additional 199hp and 280Nm from the electric motor. This means that the total power output 727hp and 1000Nm. The power in the engine is distributed across all wheels through BMW’s rear-biased xDrive all-wheel-drive system. The sedan also comes with adaptive suspension and rear wheel steering as standard option.

The M5 sedan can go from 0-100 kmph in 3.5 seconds. As the car comes with additional motor and battery, the weight is 500kg more than the older model. The speed of the car can go till 250kmph as standard option. However, the top speed can go till 305kmph if users opt for M Driver’s Package. The battery pack is 18.6kWh and the only electric range is 69km as per WLTP cycle. The BMW M5 can go up to 140kmph and support AC charging till 7.4kW. There are three driving modes on the sedan- Hybrid, electric and eControl.

Exterior and Interior

The exterior of the sedan is quite sharp and the M5 gets shorter wheelbase. The grille is gloss black and gets a M5 logo in the centre. There are large air inlets at the edges. When it comes to wheels we get 20-inch front and 21-inch rear wheels. Even though there is a standard carbon fibre roof, users can opt for panoramic sunroof.

On the interior, the car gets a 14.9-inch touchscreen along with 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster, a head-up display, wireless charging tray and much more.
