What’s New in iOS 27.2?
Messages to Suggest Actions Automatically
The Messages app is expected to receive a Suggested Actions feature that can recommend what users should do based on the context of a conversation. For example, if someone sends a message about an upcoming appointment, the app may suggest adding it to the Calendar or creating a reminder. Users may also be able to save relevant information to Notes without manually switching between applications.
FaceTime to Support Dual Capture in Group Calls
Apple is reportedly expanding its Dual Capture feature to group FaceTime calls. The feature allows users to capture footage from the front and rear cameras simultaneously, showing both their face and their surroundings during a call. The functionality is expected to require compatible newer iPhone models, with reports pointing to the iPhone 17 series and later.
Apple TV to Get User Profiles
The Apple TV app on iPhone and iPad is expected to introduce user profiles, allowing different people sharing a device to maintain separate viewing histories and recommendations. The feature could make it easier for families to keep their entertainment preferences separate, including children’s viewing choices.’

Home App to Add Smart Lock Controls
The Home app is expected to introduce two new automation options for compatible smart locks. The first, called Lock After Closing, can automatically lock a door after it has been closed for a chosen period. The second, Door Left Open, can notify users if a door remains open for too long. These features will depend on compatible locks and supported sensors.
Podcasts and Games to Receive Improvements
Apple Podcasts is expected to reorganise its Up Next queue into two sections: New Episodes and Continue Playing. This will help users distinguish newly available episodes from programmes they have already started but not finished.
Meanwhile, the Games app is expected to display recently downloaded games that users have not yet played. Apple is also reportedly updating the presentation of achievement progress and leaderboard scores to make gaming activity easier to track.
Release Date and Availability
Apple has released the iOS 27.2 Release Candidate to developers and public beta testers. The update is expected to reach the general public next week, although Apple has not officially confirmed the final rollout date. The new features will vary by device compatibility, and some functions will require supported accessories or hardware.
