Samsung new phone trade-in program: Get money for old device even if you don’t buy a new phone
by Sunita · KalingaTVSamsung has launched a new phone trade-in program called the Galaxy Trade-In Program. The program is somewhat unique as customers get to avail a appropriate amount for their old device even if they domn’t buy a new phone.
Galaxy Trade-In Program is current on a trial basis. This program is initially available in South Korea and France and is being run by Likewize. What sets it apart from previous offers is that you can get value out of your old device, even if you don’t buy a new phone.
Based on the fine print, these are the eligible devices: Galaxy S23, S22, S21, S20 series, Z Fold5, Fold4, Fold3, Flip5, Flip4 and Flip3. However, that same fine print warns that this list “may vary by country”.
You can visit the Galaxy Trade-In Program for South Korea and for France to find out more. The program should go live today and is expected to expand to new markets later this year, though Samsung didn’t reveal which ones.
The Korean press release offers a bit more detail on how this program is going to work. First, phones are graded into categories: Excellent, Good or Recycle. Then, an “appropriate amount” is paid out to the customer, based on the grade. To find out how much, you will have to visit the Galaxy Trade-In Program pages (they aren’t live yet at the time of this writing).
“We’re excited to launch our brand-new year-round Galaxy Trade-In Program in an effort to enrich the value of Galaxy devices for users and contribute to a circular economy. We believe customers can greatly benefit from the value of their devices in the market and the ability to trade-in safely with the support of secure transactions,” said Jun Kim, EVP and Head of Galaxy Value Innovation team, Mobile eXperience Business at Samsung Electronics.
