PM Modi Launches first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana

Chandigarh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched first hydrogen-powered train in Haryana today. It is said that the train will reportedly run 89 kilometers Jind-Sonipat route in Haryana under Northern Railway.
As per reports, the train that has been launched is the first one to ever used hydrogen fuel technology in the country.
There is no role for diesel and it will run completely on hydrogen, it will release water vapour which is less polluting element than others and good for the environmental health.
After today’s launch India has listed along with countries like Germany, France, China, Japan, and the United States for the usage of hydrogen-powered trains.

This development project is part of India’s plan to reduce pollution, promote clean energy, and make the railway system more modern.
India’s first 10-car hydrogen fuel cell-based trainset has been developed with a 1200 kW propulsion system. It runs for 75 kmph with a design speed of 110 kmph. The passengers’ carrying capacity of the train is said to be around 2,600.
It will run between Jind Junction, Gohana Junction and Sonipat, serving 12 intermediate stations including Jind City, Pandu Pindara and Mohana. The train has been developed from the design stage to prototype manufacturing.
