Heat could be draining your phone battery faster than you think

You’re definitely not hallucinating if you think your smartphone’s battery isn’t quite lasting through your summer days as long as it used to.
The key culprit behind a dwindling smartphone battery in high heat is the lithium-ion battery – the type found in nearly every modern handset – which thrives at temperatures between 20 and 35 degrees Celsius.
Beyond that range, their capacity to generate and store power can decline, and even their overall longevity diminished over time.
This is because heat accelerates chemical processes within lithium-ion batteries, temporarily boosting activity in lower temperatures, but steadily increasing battery wear over time at higher ranges.
To prevent permanent damage, modern smartphones automatically decrease performance or charging levels when they exceed thermal thresholds.

In summer months, any intense activity that generates additional heat-such as GPS navigation, 4K video recording, games, or simply using your screen at high brightness outdoors-will cause your battery to discharge even faster when coupled with hot weather.
Apple, Samsung, Google and other tech makers generally warn people against leaving phones in direct sunlight, locked cars, or generally hot conditions.
Here are a few of the most common ways to avoid the burn and optimize batter.
- Remove the battery or their device’s heavy cases if the phone is over-heating during charging,
- avoid leaving device charging while performing heavy usage.
- Keep your device cool always use shade if you’re outside, lowering screen brightness will go far too in managing power consumption
- Close Background Applications: the extra effort your smartphone uses in managing all running background Apps can cause excessive heating.
