New-Gen Toyota Hilux receives 5 Stars rating in ANCAP crash tests

Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) has revealed the crash test scores of the new-generation Toyota Hilux. The new-gen Toyota Hilux has secured a maximum five-star safety rating in ANCAP crash test. This has put the new-gen Toyota Hilux as one of the safest pick-ups on the road.

The Toyota Hilux variants sold from November 2025 onwards were undergone the test and secure the high rating under ANCAP’s stringent 2025 testing regime. The Rugged X variant of the Hinlux has not gone under the test.

According to test results, the Hilux has received a score of 84 per cent for Adult Occupant Protection, 89 per cent for Child Occupant Protection, 82 per cent for Vulnerable Road User Protection, and 82 per cent for Safety Assist. With this high performance in all the four assessment pillars, the Hilux has managed to get a five-star safety rating.

The new-gen Hilux comes with a robust structure and good safety package. It has dual front airbags, side chest and head-protecting airbags, a driver knee airbag, and a centre airbag for enhanced side-impact protection.

Standard active safety features include advanced autonomous emergency braking with car-to-car, vulnerable road user, junction and crossing, and backover detection, along with lane-keep assist, lane departure warning, and a speed assistance system with traffic sign recognition.

ANCAP’s five-star rating underlines Toyota’s focus on occupant protection and crash avoidance performance in its global pick-up offering. While the India-spec Hilux may differ in terms of standard equipment, the strong ANCAP result highlights the model’s solid underlying safety engineering.

The Hilux continues to rival models such as the Ford Ranger, Isuzu D-Max, and Mitsubishi Triton in overseas markets, where safety performance remains a key consideration for buyers in the pick-up segment.
