AtmoHub: African dust transport phenomenon set to peak
by NEWSROOM IEFIMERIDA.GR · iefimeridaAccording to AtmoHub, the information hub for air quality in Greece, the dust transport phenomenon from Africa into Greece is expected to peak on Monday.
The areas most affected at ground level are Crete, the Peloponnese, Central Greece, and, locally, the Aegean islands.
Dust concentrations in these areas remain elevated, affecting air quality primarily in the lower layers of the atmosphere. The phenomenon will continue through Thursday. However, as AtmoHub noted, starting Tuesday, it is expected to be confined mainly to the upper layers of the troposphere, without further significant impact on air quality near the surface.
"Despite the gradual weakening near the ground, the presence of dust in the higher layers will continue to cause haze in the atmosphere and reduce sky clarity," noted AtmoHub.
You can follow the forecast and the development of the phenomenon on the AtmoHub portal here.
